This well established family business supplies products and services direct to customers via a number of depots across the north-west. Operating in a specialist niche they have build up an excellent reputation and are fast approaching £5m turnover for this financial year.
Due to impending retirement of the current manager of the Accounts office they are looking to recruit a Company Accountant with experience of a similar finance role to take ownership of the accounting needs for the trading companies and other smaller entities within the group. The processes and routines are well organised and thoroughly documented so the incoming person will have a clear path to follow and plenty of support during a managed handover.
Qualifications are not a pre-requisite but previous experience of managing the accounts office in an SME and knowledge of the variety of duties involved will be essential. The key duties for this position will be:
- Preparing the management accounts
- Reporting site trading performance and KPI’s
- Daily banking and cashflow management
- Developing budgets and forecasts
- Foreign currency and FX calculations
- Reconciling all bank accounts
- Accruals and prepayments
- Reviewing utilities and supplier contracts
- VAT returns & HMRC matters
The ideal candidate for this role must be comfortable dealing with suppliers and customers, resolving day to day finance issues and identifying opportunities for improvements in systems and process. Someone who is proactive and can encourage modernisation and better ways of doing things would be a real asset in this role. You should be comfortable working in a small office environment and with regular exposure to the MD and other managers you must be able to build trust and credibility.
