Typical opportunities for ACA qualified accountants may include: Financial Accountant / Group Accountant, Group Financial Controller, Reporting Accountant / Financial Reporting Accountant in addition to more traditional Financial Controller / Finance Director positions.
Financial Accountant
- Preparing statutory financial statements for all group companies together with the group consolidation. Liaison with directors for preparation of the directors and strategic reports
- Take control of the audit process for the department, the planning, hard close and final audit
- Be responsible for ensuring that consolidations and intra-group balances are kept up to date and reconciled
- Review the internal controls of the finance department and recommend changes and improvements when necessary
- Ensure that control accounts are reconciled on a regular basis with appropriate review
- Ensure the department stays up to date with technical accounting changes
- Take control of Tax compliance for the Group
- Regulatory reporting for the Group
- Other tasks including -Company secretarial liaison, banking liaison and insurance management
Group Financial Controller
Reporting into the Finance Director your remit will cover both financial and commercial areas, key responsibilities will include:
- Challenge and motivate team to drive performance
- Improve MI, KPI reporting, budgeting and forecasting
- Identify and implement new systems to provide additional / better control, for example project costing
- Working capital management
- Partner with senior management to drive efficiency, evaluate opportunities and improve performance
- Undertake due diligence work on acquisitions, assist in structuring deals and plan for business integration post deal
- Help rationalise group structure to simplify reporting and tax compliance
Liaise with banks and other stakeholders to optimise funding structure of business
