Job description:

This fast growing SME supplies and services equipment for customers throughout the UK. They are a recognised market leader with a reputation built on excellent customer service, industry leading products and the ability to solve clients problems. The business is family owned and with ambitions to achieve £1.5 / £2M turnover in the next few years they have now decided to appoint their first full time Company Accountant to be part of the team.

The objective of this role is to provide vital financial and commercial support to an over-stretched MD, modernise and improve processes and also allow a major shareholder to gradually start stepping away from the business. This will be a stand alone position working as part of a small team and would suit an individual who is flexible enough to carry out all the routine and daily elements associated with managing an accounts department yet also able to offer input into commercial and contractual matters, acting as the voice of finance to the sales and service departments. The key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing all finance transactions, overseeing all sales / purchase ledger and credit control matters
  • Bank reconciliations, prepayments and accruals, journals etc
  • Banking, cashflow forecasting and preparing basic budgets
  • Preparing management accounts and developing monthly KPI’s
  • Overseeing payroll, VAT and year end
  • Reviewing customer and supplier agreements, contract analysis

A key element of this role will be improving the invoicing process and creating an efficient accounts structure, managing costs by improving financial awareness throughout the business and ensuring appropriate stock and labour is available for servicing and repair work with key customers.

The role would suit someone with experience of SAGE accounting software who is familiar with the challenges associated with working alongside owner managers in a growing business.
