This manufacturing and distribution business is seeking to recruit an experienced Financial Controller to replace a retiring individual and report directly into the MD. The role will involve supervising an accounts / admin team of around 6 staff responsible for the financial analysis and reporting on several divisions based both in the UK and overseas. The company is growing steadily and currently sits at around £13m t/o and looking to exploit increasing demand for their market leading products and after market care. The ideal candidate for this role would be an experienced Company Accountant / Financial Controller comfortable working in an SME environment. Key duties will include:

  • Supervising and developing the accounts department
  • Overall responsibility for all transactional activity, banking, payroll and pension submissions
  • Managing invoice financing facility including daily and monthly processes, reconciliations and income draw down
  • Month end processes including production of management accounts
  • Statutory returns and submissions
  • Maintenance of general ledger including foreign currencies
  • Collection of R&D expenditure for submission to external accountants
  • Monitor cashflow daily and foreign currency trades
  • Production of year end working papers and complete year end processes
  • Advise and support to other divisions including overseas operations
  • Liaison with external auditors and accountants
  • Adhoc HMRC queries and inspections
  • Management reporting as required

As the business continues to grow the MD is looking for someone who can develop reports and MI that can drive performance and efficiency throughout all departments. As part of this there may be a requirement to modernise and upgrade accounting software packages. In addition to this they are experiencing increased demand for maintenance and service of the equipment they supply so a Financial Controller familiar with setting up and monitoring service contracts would be very useful. Ideally they would like to appoint someone CIMA / ACCA / ACA qualified who is looking to make a long term commitment to a business and is able to react to and drive change as they evolve to meet market demand.
