The business has a number of sites in the UK and Ireland and an opportunity has arisen to recruit an experienced Financial Controller due to an impending retirement later this year. Reporting to the country general manager the role will form a key part of the senior management team and will be responsible for managing the finance and HR department for a £9m t/o operation and reporting to an overseas head office. The Financial Controller role will have the following responsibilities:

  • Prepare annual and monthly budgets for group
  • Monitor, analyse and justify exceptions in deviations to budgets
  • Analyse and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports
  • Margin analysis, cost control and optimisation of working capital
  • Implement and improve financial procedures
  • Participate and prepare data for management meetings
  • Produce company files on global drives for regional finance director and group level controlling
  • Tax consolidation and integration
  • Intratstat and foreign currency management
  • Company tax return and social security declaration
  • Primary contact for financial auditors, bankers and internal audit
  • Supervise debt collection, invoice registration, petty cash etc.
  • Supervision of HR recruitment, training, salary and staff management
  • Act as a resource person for local mid-level managers in relation to HR matters
  • Responsible for legal issues
  • Financial contact point for regional and corporate finance and HR matters

The Financial Controller role will carry responsibility for managing the Finance and HR department so supervisory experience and the ability to conduct appraisals with team members, mentor and develop performance is essential. A structured approach along with the tenacity to drive change and implement modernisation projects will also be essential. The ideal candidate would have a flair for IT and preferably will have worked with SAP, they will also have experience at Finance Manager or Financial Controller level in a global subsidiary office with an SME feel to it. There will be a planned hand over with the current incumbent and this will involve working at another site in the south for around 3 days a week in the first couple of months before moving to the new offices which are very accessible from the St.Helens, Widnes, Warrington and Liverpool area.
