This recently formed group of provides support services to the recycling industry. They have an ambitious growth plan to acquire complimentary businesses and consolidate their offering in the sector. Following the purchase of two companies in Lancashire last year they are now looking to appoint a Management Accountant to take responsibility for monthly reporting and analysis whilst also modernising and improving processes.

Reporting into a dynamic Group Finance Director based in the South you will have a lot of independence and should have the drive and determination to make the role your own. One of the sites was PLC owned so an initial project will be to overhaul their reporting structures and make fit for purpose, modernising and improving systems by working closely with the FD and operational staff to identify how finance can deliver MI to meet the needs of the business. The role will require someone with good IT skills, ideally knowledge of ERP systems, SAGE 200 preferred but not essential. Key responsibilities will be:

  • Preparing weekly and monthly reports for the SMT
  • Producing monthly management accounts
  • Variance analysis and commentary on performance
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Business partnering with operations to improve efficiency
  • Cost control, management of overheads and fixed asset register
  • Preparation of quarterly forecasts and annual budgets
  • Cashflow preparation, control and forecasting
  • Supervise Credit Control / Purchase Ledger
  • Ad hoc reporting and performance analysis
  • Assisting with year end audit & stat accounts
  • Preparation of VAT Returns

The ideal candidate for this role would be CIMA / ACCA part or nearly qualified with at least three years of experience in an SME finance / management accountant type role. The ability to meet deadlines, prioritise own workload and that of others will be important in addition to possessing the communication skills to deal with and influence people at all levels.

You will be based at their recently modernised offices close to the M61 and will enjoy a bit of flexibility on start / finish time and a hybrid working arrangement of up to two days from home.
