Having recently acquired a successful business in Blackburn they are looking to strengthen the team by appointing a Management Accountant to take over the work of a recently promoted Head of Finance who now has more group reporting responsibilities. This vacancy will therefore provide you with an excellent opportunity to be mentored and developed by someone who previously occupied the role.
The Management Accountant position requires someone to be in the office full time to really understand the business and you will be joining an established team committed to the success of the company. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious finance professional to play a pivotal role in driving accurate and insightful financial reporting, creating accountability and visibility for departmental heads to aid with decision making.
The key responsibilities will be:
- Work closely with the Head of Finance to prepare and develop the board pack.
- Production of management accounts, variance and trend analysis
- Monitor and report on monthly stock audit and identify discrepancies/potential shortages.
- Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process.
- Responsible for monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Investigate manufacturing variances.
- Assist with the annual audit and statutory accounts.
- Prepare weekly sales report with bridge to forecast/budget.
- Production and posting of key journals including accruals, prepayments.
- Prepare quarterly VAT/Plastic Packaging returns.
- Develop and then take ownership of product costings.
- Assist in preparation of rolling cashflow statements.
- Assist in developing customer and product profitability reports.
- Supervise Credit Control/Purchase Ledger
The successful candidate must have the following qualities:
- An eye for continuous improvement and developing accounting processes.
- Previous exposure to management accounts production and month end duties (reconciliation, journals, variance analysis etc)
- Good communication skills and attention to detail
- Organised, able to prioritise and commit to deadlines.
