Management Accountant – SJS/22206

This successful manufacturing and distribution business supplies products to mostly trade customers throughout the UK. By continually re-investing in production processes and technology they have positioned themselves as a market leader are on target to reach turnover of £35m.

As part of their succession planning they would now like to recruit a Management Accountant to the business who is looking for stability and long term development, potentially to take over from the FD in the future. This is a new role and offers the opportunity to really add value to all areas of the business by investigating issues and making improvements that really drive efficiency and profitability. You will undertake a variety of project work as directed by the FD but the main responsibilities will be:

• Producing the monthly management accounts
• Reporting MI and KPI analysis
• Cost and margin analysis
• Reporting on variance to budget / forecast
• Developing reports that drive profitability
• VAT returns, balance sheet recs

My client is looking for someone pro-active who can investigate problem areas and bottlenecks, providing meaningful reporting and analysis to support decision making and drives solutions. Key areas to look at will include reviewing stock management processes to optimise stock holdings and minimise returns, investigating customer databases and working with sales and manufacturing to optimise product mix, driving a deeper understanding of product costing and margins to improve profitability.

The ideal candidate would be part or recently qualified CIMA / ACCA with previous experience of manufacturing and a desire to contribute ideas that will improve the business. You will be using a fully integrated ERP system and Excel so must be IT literate, commercially aware and able to produce reports for directors and stakeholders at different levels. You will be supported by an experienced FD who is looking to make an investment into someone with the right drive and attitude.
