Finance Manager – SJS/12352

This business operates in a fast moving retail sector and has grown steadily through acquisition to become a leading supplier of specialist products and services. Some recent restructuring has led to the creation of a new position for a Finance Manager to be based at their head office function in North Manchester. Reporting to the Finance Director this role will be responsible for supporting the preparation of the monthly management accounts and ensuring the general ledgers and control accounts are fully maintained and reconciled by the team. You will be reporting on multiple sites, high volumes of cash and card transactions and therefore must have experience of working in a busy, fast paced finance function. Key duties will include:

• Co-ordinating the preparation of monthly P&L accounts for multiple sites
• Managing the month end processes
• Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Preparation and posting of month end journals
• Analysis and preparation of prepayments and accruals
• Preparation of monthly intercompany reconciliations
• Management reporting on KPI’s
• Supporting purchase ledger and banking
• Supporting the year end audit and statutory accounts preparation

You will be responsible for supervising direct reports and providing support and mentoring to a transactional team, you must also have strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills to co-ordinate reporting from store managers.

Although not essential previous experience of a multi-site retail business would be very advantageous for this role, they have recently migrated to SAGE 200 so the ability to enhance and improve reporting processes would also be highly beneficial. Qualifications are not necessary for this position, my client is looking for a hands on accountant / transactional finance manager with a good breadth of experience to manage the finance department and ensure all transactions are controlled and reported accurately.
