My client is a dynamic service business looking to grow through acquisition in a buoyant sector. They are seeking to pursue a buy and build strategy and create a group of businesses providing complimentary services to customers. Following an internal promotion they are now looking for an experienced Management Accountant to support the Finance Director in supervising the accounts department. Previous experience of managing staff would therefore be useful in this role and if successful you can expect rapid development and progression into the position of Finance Manager.

This will be an all-encompassing role for a circa £50m turnover operation requiring the ability to liaise confidently with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring delivery of accurate and timely information to commercial, operational and financial areas of the business. The ideal candidate for this role would be a CIMA / ACCA / ACA part or fully qualified accountant with the ability to operate in a complex environment and understand what drives cashflow and profitability. Strong IT skills will be very useful as you will be working on a variety of different systems. The main responsibilities for this Management Accountant position will include:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Producing the month end board reports
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparing cashflow forecasts to meet banking covenants
  • Manage the year-end audit and accounts prep
  • Produce quarterly VAT returns
  • Controlling treasury and purchase ledger
  • Supervise and develop a small team
  • Ensure KPI’s and service levels are met
  • Oversee process improvement projects

Previous experience of becoming a trusted business partner to non-financial managers will be very important in this role. Applicants would ideally be part or fully qualified CIMA / ACCA / ACA with solid management and financial accounting experience with the ability to work as part of a team and prioritise and delegate workload where necessary. If successful you will enjoy a number of attractive benefits including the opportunity to work from home 2-3 days a week.
