This privately owned group operates across a number of sites and provides vital support services to people and communities. They have a dedicated team and excellent reputation which has led to steady expansion. They are now looking to further strengthen the team with the addition of a Finance Manager. The group has performed well over the pandemic period, maintaining very healthy cash reserves and doubled EBITDA. Investing in the finance department is now seen by the board as a key requirement to accommodate acquisitions and further strategic growth.

A key aspect of this Finance Manager role will be supporting the development of a clear reporting structure across the sites, driving change, modernising where necessary and raising the profile of the finance department to ensure it adds value to the rest of the business. You will have the opportunity to work closely with Business Managers and the operations team so this is a great opportunity to really influence the business by providing meaningful MI and developing financial reporting. The ideal candidate for this role must therefore be an ambitious individual looking to add value and show their commercial acumen. The key duties for this position will be:

  • Preparing detailed business unit management accounts
  • Developing KPI’s that drive efficiency and profitability
  • Driving awareness of financial metrics with operational staff
  • Providing analysis to support business planning and capex projects
  • Over-seeing day to day transactions and payroll
  • Monitoring cash and commercial activities
  • Helping managers drive out cost and improve efficiency
  • Provide support to quarterly audits and resolving issues
  • Supporting the production of statutory accounts and the audit process
  • Deal with HMRC, VAT and PAYE matters
  • Discussing commercial terms with suppliers and other service providers

You will be required to work closely with the MD and other senior management ensuring there is consistency between the sites in East Lancashire with a view to rolling out the blue print to other locations. The group is monitored by an external body so the ability to adapt quickly to legislation and maintain quality standards is vital, the Finance Manager will also play a key role in producing detailed monthly financial information ensuring they can react to any issues and maintain grant funding.

This exciting opportunity would suit someone with a strong Management Accounting background looking to step up into a Finance Manager position, preferably part qualified. You will be joining a good team of committed individuals and can expect to be given more responsibility and improved remuneration as your role progresses.
