This specialist construction contractor works with clients across the UK and Europe delivering projects across a range of sectors. They have an excellent reputation and enjoy the financial stability of being part of a larger group which has opened up new growth opportunities and provided additional resources for further expansion. As a result of this there is now a requirement to strengthen the finance function in Blackpool with the addition of an experienced Management Accountant / Finance Manager to oversee the team and report into the Group Financial Controller.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make an impact on their own department by driving improvement, becoming the go to person for finance queries on site and providing financial reporting and analysis to support decision making across the business. The main duties for this position will be:

• Managing the finance department day to day and meeting month end deadlines
• Producing management accounts, including P&L, cashflow and balance sheet
• Preparing the financial reporting pack for group
• Developing KPI reports to track and analyse project performance
• Reporting on WIP, liaising with commercial teams to drive profitability
• Monitoring performance against budget with monthly variance analysis
• Working with group finance and line managers to improve budgeting and forecasting
• Enhancing controls and processes across the key service lines
• Overseeing transactional activity
• Liaising with external parties, banks, auditors etc.

The group they belong to is diverse and acquisitive so this role has good progression opportunities for the right candidate. The ideal applicant would be CIMA/ACCA or QBE with strong management accounting experience, preferably gained in the construction sector though this is not essential. You must have good IT and communication skills, able to deal with the breadth of personalities found in an SME environment. Commercial acumen and business awareness will also be important as this role will ultimately form part of the management team on site. It is envisaged that the position will be office based initially with scope for hybrid in the future once you become established.
