Management Accountant – SJS/21904

This family owned retail business is looking to add some resource to their finance department due to the retirement of their part time Financial Controller. This will be a planned hand over process and therefore offers an opportunity for an ambitious accountant to make an impact in this growing business. At the moment there is some basic reporting in place but the directors are seeking an individual who can develop more meaningful MI and drive more efficiency and performance from the finance department. Key duties will include:

• Working with the transactional team to improve controls and processes

• Improving the month end reporting time frame

• Producing monthly management accounts

• Developing reports for the board

• Implementing KPIs and performance analysis

• Developing budgets and forecasts

• Reporting on stock and overheads

• Preparing information for the year end

This role will work closely with senior management and sales staff and you should be comfortable explaining financial concepts to colleagues at all levels. A key part of this position will be implementing improvements in accounting practices to drive business growth. The role reports directly into the MD and has scope to become the Financial Controller of the future. The ideal candidate for the role will have worked in a growing SME, preferably from within the retail sector.
