Financial Controller – SJS/12392

This market leading business has a global reach and ambitious growth plans to reach £30m turnover. As part of this expansion they are keen to appoint a Financial Controller to oversee the accounting function and report into the Directors. The position will form a key part of the leadership team and will provide the post holder with the opportunity to influence decision making and shape the strategy of the business going forward.

The preferred candidate for this vacancy must ideally be CIMA / ACCA qualified with previous experience of a similar role coupled with the drive and credibility to be a future leader.

This position will be very varied and will involve supervising and developing a small, yet experienced team to ensure all of the financial reporting, analysis and controls are in place to safeguard the financial future and success of the company. The key areas of responsibility will be:

• Preparing the monthly management accounts and accurate MI for the board
• Prepare weekly flash reports and KPI summary
• Develop and manage the budgeting and forecasting process
• Manage cashflow and bank relationship
• Business partner other departments to drive financial awareness
• Prepare CAPEX proposals and business case reports
• Develop controls and processes to optimise efficiency and performance
• Prepare annual stat accounts and audit liaison
• Responsible for tax, VAT and HMRC matters

A key element of this role will involve working with a variety of different systems including SAGE, previous experience of an implementation or developing systems would be very useful alongside strong Excel skills to provide ad hoc financial models or analysis where necessary. The ability to challenge, innovate and drive change will be important alongside your strong technical ability and hands on approach.
