Management Accountant- SJS/22394

This well established family owned company is looking for an experienced Management Accountant / Finance Manager with the potential to become part of the senior management team on site. The role will report into the MD and will involve overseeing and working with a small team ensuring all the day to day accounting requirements of the business are met.

Operating in a specialist retail sector the business has a large volume of transactions and also revenues from high value equipment hire and resale, total turnover is in excess of £20m. Recent growth has meant there is now plenty of scope to develop and enhance reporting systems, modernising processes that improve accuracy and timeliness and ensure the finance function supports commercial decision making that adds value to the rest of the business. The key duties for this position will include:

• Production of the monthly management accounts
• Developing and improving the monthly timetable
• Preparing a board pack and developing KPI’s
• Cashflow forecasting and budgeting
• Weekly flash reporting for the Directors
• Preparation of the statutory accounts for four entities
• Supporting the annual audit
• Quarterly VAT returns
• FCA & ONS Returns

This will be a varied role so requires a good team player who can assist with transactional workload and lend support at busy times. There is an initial requirement to bring payroll in house and plenty of scope to enhance and improve things, it’s a friendly team so the right candidate can expect job satisfaction and recognition for any improvements made. The company uses SAGE and some bespoke IT packages so someone who is tech savvy would be useful. Previous experience from equipment hire / sales or motor retail would be useful but not essential. Longer term the prospects are good as the MD is keen to get someone who can offer support on wider operational and commercial matters if required.
