This company provides specialist services and solutions to clients across the UK. Owned by a successful entrepreneur who has a number of business interests they are also supported by institutional and external private investors who are keen to drive further growth. Due to a geographical move of the present post older, a need has arisen to recruit a full time Financial Controller to provide full accountancy support to onsite Directors and an external part-time Finance Director. The ideal candidate for this role must have experience of an SME environment with the flexibility and positive approach to work effectively as part of a small team.
The Financial Controller will be responsible for all aspects of finance within the business, managing one finance assistant you will be viewed as the go to person for all day to day accounting matters, taking ownership of issues and working on company wide projects. The main responsibilities for this role will be:
- Producing the monthly management accounts
- Preparation of journals, accruals & prepayments, depreciation etc.
- Produce the trial balance for input to the Management accounts
- Provide various statistical information for the reporting pack
- Reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts and corrections of any mis-postings.
- Preparation of year-end files and analysis for audit /tax requirements
- Liaising with customers and suppliers to resolve queries
- Responsible for payroll, timesheets and liaising with external bureau
- PAYE, pensions and VAT returns
- Management of credit cards, expenses and petty cash
- Assisting with credit control and reporting on sales
- Support business planning and budget preparation
- Reporting KPI’s to improve efficiency and reduce costs
Suitable candidates for this great opportunity must have a track record of working in a broad finance role and ideally have completed or be studying towards an accounting qualification. Experience of SAGE and good Excel skills would be beneficial along with the ability to be a self-motivated member of a small team.
