Financial Controller – SJS/12445

This company specializes in the design and manufacture of specialist equipment for use across a range of sectors. Established over thirty years ago they were acquired recently by an overseas business looking to capitalize on their expertise, strengthen their product range and provide a platform for further expansion. Operating with a high degree of autonomy and led by a well-regarded MD they are profitable, enjoy strong margins and have a full order book for the remainder of the year.

The opportunity:
Due to retirement they are now looking for a Financial Controller to be responsible for all financial and accounting functions of two trading businesses combined turnover north of £7m. Reporting directly into the UK Managing Director, the position would suit an individual with experience at a similar level ideally from an SME in the manufacturing, engineering or distribution sector.

Key responsibilities:

• Day to day running of the finance function and management of two staff.
• Produce monthly management accounts pack with commentary.
• Preparing MI reports for submission to US by day five.
• Balance sheet control and reconciliation
• Cash flow forecasting and completion of budgets.
• Variance analysis of budget vs actual.
• Daily bank reconciliation and credit control support
• Reviewing wages and payment runs
• Preparation of annual statutory accounts
• Providing information to banks, auditors and factoring providers
• Negotiating utilities, insurance, vehicle contracts, expenses etc.
• Liaising with HMRC, PAYE and VAT returns
• Preparing production and stock reports via the SAGE 200 ERP system

The candidate:

Would be part or fully CIMA / ACCA qualified or qualified by experience (QBE) with a strong management and financial accounting background and experience at Financial Controller / Finance Manager level. Attention to detail, a practical hands-on attitude along with the ability to operate both with autonomy and as part of a senior team will be key to success in this role.
