Commercial Finance Director – SJS/12454

Commercial Finance Director required to support an ambitious, sales driven Managing Director.

This leading supplier of specialist equipment has enjoyed strong growth and is on target to exceed £10m turnover in their next financial year and continue on an upwards trajectory. They possess a mature and well established B2B customer base both in the UK and overseas and have also developed a significant proportion of B2C online sales. The future looks extremely positive for them with numerous new business opportunities and a potential acquisition in the pipeline.

In order to support this growth the MD is now looking to bring in a Commercial Finance Director to work closely with and help lead the business going forward. This key appointment will form part of the senior management and will allow the MD to focus more time on sales and product development. The suitable candidate must therefore have a proven track record of working in a growing SME business and taking on a broad commercial and operational role. This individual must have the following qualities:

• A flexible approach to supporting a driven MD
• ACCA / CIMA / ACA qualified accountant able add value to all departments
• Excellent IT / technology skills particularly Excel & financial modelling
• Knowledge of integrated ERP systems, ideally SAGE 200
• A drive to deliver top quality financial information that supports decision making
• Excellent analysis, communication and presentation skills.
• Credibly lead commercial discussions with customers and overseas suppliers.
• Provide support to purchasing and supply chain negotiations
• Represent the business to banks and external funders, accountants and professional advisers
• Ideally possess experience from some of these sectors: manufacturing / retail / distribution / e-commerce

The role will have the following responsibilities:

• Full ownership of the finance function and production of financial and management information.
• Work with departments to develop budgets and robust forecasts in line with strategic plan.
• Monitor cashflow, report on business performance highlighting risks and opportunities
• Provide financial analysis to support projects and new business initiatives
• Drive efficiency across the business, work with key stakeholders to improve KPI’s and enhance decision making
• Review and develop financial control framework to support further business growth
• Manage the companies FX exposure with oversight of all import / export documentation
• Responsible for audit, VAT, PAYE, HMRC tax, insurance, company secretarial matters
