This long standing company is rich in heritage and supplies specialist products to a world wide customer base. Currently going through a period of transition due to the planned retirement of the owners a new senior management team is now in place looking to drive the business forward. A key part of this process will be to modernise the accounts department and improve the quality of MI available to help run the business. A fantastic opportunity has therefore arisen for an experienced Management Accountant, ideally with experience from the warehousing and distribution sector, to work closely with the MD and FD to lay the foundations for planned growth.

The role will be a standalone position so suitable applicants must be able to perform all the day to day accounting duties associated with a £7-£8m turnover SME, with support from the FD when needed. A key part of the Management Accountants role will also be to work closely with the Production Manager to implement more professional procedures in the warehouse and around stock control. They are open to new ideas and keen to adopt better working practices across all departments, there will be plenty of quick wins and its envisaged this will be a rewarding and enjoyable role for someone keen to get involved in all aspects of a business. The key responsibilities will be:

  • Production and maintenance of the monthly reporting pack
  • Commercial and sales analysis of key metrics
  • Controlling commission payments to sales agents
  • Preparation of the Annual Budget and other forecasts
  • Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Stock control and reconciliations, including on-site stock
  • Sales Ledger and cash postings
  • Credit Control and purchase ledger

The role will involve working with other managers and Directors when necessary, in particular close liaison with the buying department to develop systems regarding demand planning and order scheduling whilst monitoring stock availability via their warehouse management software.

The ideal candidate for this role would be part qualified or qualified CIMA / ACCA or QBE with relevant experience working within an SME. You must have strong Excel skills, SAGE 50 would also be advantageous alongside a general ability to improve systems and develop reports where necessary. An adaptable and flexible approach will be key to success in this role as you will be the go to person for day to day accounting matters and will also be expected to add value to other departments.
