Assistant Financial Controller – SJS/12514

This privately owned company is a successful distribution / wholesale business who supply both high street and independent retail customers. Based in modern offices they are a profitable operation with an excellent reputation for quality and customer service. A recent internal promotion has created a new opportunity for an Assistant Financial Controller to report into the Financial Controller who will shortly be taking on a more senior position. There is definite scope for progression and lots of exposure due to the varied nature of the role.

As number two in the finance department you will assist with running all the day to day accounting activities, including management of the transactional team and supporting the closing stages of an ERP system implementation. Your key responsibilities will be:

• Preparing the monthly management accounts pack
• Supervising the month end close process
• Budgeting and forecasting
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• Preparing the year end accounts
• Assisting with the annual audit
• Monthly payroll, VAT returns, PAYE etc.
• Stock reconciliation and valuation
• Ad hoc reporting and analysis of KPI’s

The ideal candidate for this role would preferably be a CIMA / ACCA qualified or finalist although strong QBE accountants with relevant experience will also be considered. Excellent Excel skills will be imperative and a willingness to utilise business intelligence tools and cloud based systems would be useful as the company has made a significant investment in IT recently. The role would provide a good step up for an experienced Management Accountant or Finance Manager looking for more responsibility.
