In order to continue this growth they would now like to appoint a Financial Controller to work closely with the CEO and wider management team, providing financial information and analysis, a robust controls environment and delivery of best practice to ensure their continued success. This will be a superb role for someone looking for ownership of a finance function within a fast growing, dynamic SME. The key responsibilities will be:

  • Producing the monthly management accounts
  • Reviewing P&L’s, reporting variance to budgets
  • Preparing monthly reports, reviewing results with managers
  • Managing expenditure, budgeting and reforecasting
  • Producing detailed cashflows and forecasts
  • Managing annual and 3yr budget and forecast cycle
  • Providing project performance analysis
  • Developing KPI’s to understand and drive profitability
  • Producing statutory accounts and manage the audit
  • Support and develop a small finance team

One of the key objectives of this appointment is to improve financial awareness across the organisation, as they work on a wide range of projects over different time frames cashflow can be lumpy and therefore requires close control and scrutiny. Good experience of forecasting and financial modelling would be attractive. There will also be some complexity around joint venture relationships and inter-company trading, so strong technical skills and awareness of compliance / regulatory changes will be useful.

Suitable applicants for this role would preferably be CIMA or ACCA / ACA qualified accountants with experience at Finance Manager / Financial Controller level. Good communication and inter-personal skills along with the ability to be self-motivated and well organised will play a big part in your success in this role.
