This diverse business has grown steadily through acquisition and now surpassed £100m t/o. Driven by a serial entrepreneur they have successfully integrated new products and services to become a provider of choice to their clients with an excellent reputation for quality and service. Following feedback from its customers a period of inward investment to develop new technology has led to the launch of a new division, expected to grow rapidly over the next few years to beyond £25m t/o, and a Finance manager is now required to set up and run the finance function. Reporting into the FD the role will provide close support to the MD providing commercial analysis and advice whilst also being responsible for all day to day activities and transactions within the division. Main duties will include:
- Setting up the accounting function from scratch
- Implementing systems and processes to support growth
- Preparation of budgets and forecasts
- Strategic planning and monitoring performance against targets
- Monthly reporting and management accounts
- Cost accounting, stock valuation and operational accounting
- Transaction processing (AP / AR)
- Tax and statutory accounts at year end
This will be a very hands on role at the start, installing and configuring SAGE, designing and implementing robust controls to ensure all financial activities are monitored and recorded accurately. Over time the Finance Manager position will come to focus on providing commercial information to the MD to help drive the business forward and optimise growth opportunities. The ideal candidate for this position must therefore be comfortable working in an owner managed SME environment with growth agenda. The ability to be pro-active and self-motivated will be very important along with a tenacious approach to working with the challenges associated with a growing business. Applicants for this exciting Finance Manager position must be ACA / ACCA or CIMA qualified, the client will also consider slightly more senior candidates looking for a part-time / flexible working arrangement, 3-4 days a week or reduced hours.
